Dear Mr. Richard Imber, on behalf of The Old Wimbledonians,
I am contacting you regarding a piece we are making on British sports for Norwegian television.
We are producing an entertainment show about sports, called Golden Goal. The show is aired weekly on the biggest commercial TV-station in Norway, TV 2.

Golden Goal is a popular and important show to all sports-fanatics, supporters, athletes and other people within sports-business here in Norway.
ason our reporter, Mr. Henrik Elvestad, has visited other countries and went to sports events of local sports that we don’t know much about here in Norway.
In two weeks, from 20th – 24th of June to be specific, we are sending a TV-crew and our reporter to England, to make reports on typical British sports such as cricket, polo and rowing.
During our time in England we were hoping to make a piece on an English cricket-match, to show our Norwegian viewers how to play cricket, what the rules are, how you train a.s.o. We have heard that your Cricket Club is a very good and nice one, and would be a good example to use in our program.
So, I wonder if it would be possible for our reporter and the TV-crew to come to one of your matches the weekend 23rd and 24th of June? Our plan if possible would be to present the cricket team, film during the match, also interviewing one of the players about how to play and (what seems to us as) the difficult rules.
Our experience is that the report will be much more alive and entertaining to the viewers if our reporter also gets to try out the sport, and how easy it is to “common” people. So, I am also wondering, is it possible that Henrik could borrow a cricket-outfit and try to play with some of the players? I understand that we can’t do this during the match, of course, but would it be possible to arrange a training session either before or after the match? Or if you have a training session the same day or the day before, maybe he could come and train with the team? He wouldn’t have to be there for a long time, and that would really make the whole report even more interesting to our viewers.
If this is easier to arrange this if we aren’t attending the training of your 1st team that is perfectly fine with us! It is not that important that the team is the best one, since the report is made to show Norwegians (that don’t know much about cricket) how it works, what the rules are, the outfits a.s.o.
If you are interested, this is an example of one of the other reports we have made of the same kind earlier:
Henrik and the TV-crew went to a Canarian Wrestling tournament at the Canary Islands in March. Canarian Wrestling is a sport that isn’t especially well-known other places than on the Canary Islands. There it is very popular, though, and the greatest wrestlers are looked upon as stars and local heroes.
Henrik interviewed one of the arrangers and the local star wrestler. He also got to borrow a wrestling-outfit (that of course didn’t fit him at all, he is quite small compared to the well-trained and huge Canarian wrestlers), and in the break of the tournament he wrestled the local star. Of course it didn’t go very well for our reporter, but it did show how difficult it is for “normal” people to try this sport. However, both the audience, the arrangers and the wrestler himself got a good laugh out of Henrik’s well-meant attempt and eager to succeed!
If The Old Wimbledonians CC would like to welcome us and tell us /teach our reporter this sport, we would be most thankful! I also think that this would be of good and positive promotion-value for the sport and your club to Norwegians, and give cricket more attention in our country.
I hope that you will like my sugestions, and that this is not impossible to arrange?
I really look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working with you going forward!
Best regards,
Martine Jespersen
